Verdi's Requiem soars at Trinity Cathedral

By Hector Barrera

Last night Verdi's Requiem soared through the halls of the Trinity Cathedral in downtown Miami.

The venue was intimate and spectacular. From its inception Maestro Albert-George Schram led the Lynn Philhamonia and the Master Chorale of South Florida to heights never attained before. The dynamics of the work was something to behold.

The strength and majesty of Dies Irae, was worth the price of admission alone. However, the splendors didn't end there! There were many highlights during this fabulous night. From the marvelous rendition of Tuba Mirum, with soloist Wayne Shepperd (Bass) and additional quartet of trumpets situated in the balcony, to the elegant trio during Quid sum Miser, by soloist Amanda Hall (Soprano), Christin-Marie Hill, (Mezzo-soprano) and Scott Ramsay (Tenor), to the ever popular Sanctus, for double Choir, to the triumphant fugue finale, Libera me, the epic work mesmerized and thrilled the patrons of the well acoustical cathedral.

The only true distraction was the sounds of a nearby Mega Boom Box festival that would occasionally bleed through antique walls into the venue. Regardless of the aforementioned, Verdi's masterpiece triumphed over adversity thanks to the masterfully handled tempos laid out by Maestro Schram and the magnificent work fashioned over the past three seasons by Chorale Director Joshua Habermann.

But don't despair if you were unable to attend last night extravagant performance. There are still three additional concerts scheduled for this epic masterpiece by Giuseppe! The locations are as follow:
